You are probably curious as to why I haven't been posting a whole lot about our homestead. The truth is that in winter, and around the hoildays, it can be easy to get really busy and side-tracked. Also, in winter I have found that there isn't too much going on outside because of the weather, and I don't think that you want to only hear about the chickens, the woodstove, and stacking firewood, all winter long. lol! But, I figured that I better share an update anyway, especially since we are getting closer to planting season! So, lets get into the fun stuff!
So far, I am starting to notice little bits of green here and there. Our daffodils are blooming! We have a bunch of them by the barn, and we also have at least one in the front yard. In the garden, we have some asparagus starting to come up also!
We started a few of our plants inside already as well. It is mostly herbs, lavendar, yarrow, sage, and a few other things. I haven't planted any flowers yet, but it is getting close to were I can plant them in the front flower bed!
Also, we are planning on planting peas soon, and then you are supposed to plant potatoes on St. Patrick's Day, but we will probably end up just planting them a little later than that.
(Here is a photo of the daffodils)
(This is a picture of Daisy, our Beagle. All of the dogs enjoy laying in the sun on the warm days!)
(Here are some of my flower seeds that I am planning of planting soon!)
(We went to a conferece last year and I found some cute homestead themed t-shirts. Here is the link! NLHG Homestead Definition (front print) | Dirt & Devotion (dirtanddevotion.com))
I hope that you have a blessed day!
